Hello, My name is Jay Wing, and this is my first year teaching at CPMA and my first contract at a Middle School. I am not a brand new teacher, nor a "spring chicken," (regardless the nickname the students like to test me with).*
In 2003, after 20 years in the Graphics Industry, providing services as a Graphic Artist, Designer, Cartoonist, Illustrator, Animator, Graphics Supervisor and Project Manager, I returned to school to earn a Teaching Credential and Masters in Education. I completed my studies and received a Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Art, and a Masters in Education from National University in 2009. The 2015-16 school year begins my third year as a full-time teacher, facilitating the acquisition of skills in traditional Art (Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media and Sculptural Crafts), Multimedia Design (Digital Art), which this year is combined with Yearbook. I also have the pleasure of teaching two sections of "the Wheel," introducing 6th-graders to both traditional and Digital arts, in order to entice them to pursue their visual arts education.
In 2011 I completed the Designated Subjects Credential in Arts, Media & Entertainment, which, along with 30-plus years in Graphics, qualifies me to to teach courses through Career, College and Technical Education (CCTE).
My objective is to continue my education and service to the students in my care by constant research and application of the study of Art and its significance to their creative endeavors.
