I am thrilled to be returning to CPMA for my ninth year as Choral Music Director! CPMA students and staff are the best!
I am a San Diego native who received my elementary and secondary education in the same school district I now work in. I attended Jones Elementary School, Taft Junior High School, and SDSCPA. It’s a privilege to be able to give back to the same school community that educated me. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in 2005 from SDSU, my Single Subject Teaching Credential in 2006 from SDSU, and my Masters of Music degree in Music Education specializing in Conducting from Colorado State University in 2016. The 2017-2018 school year will be my twelfth year of teaching middle school music.
I was honored in 2011 when the local chapter of the California Music Educator's Association awarded me as Choral Educator of the Year, and in 2013 when I was asked to direct the county-wide Middle School Honor Choir. In 2014 and 2017 the San Diego Unified School District’s VAPA Department named me the Outstanding Choral Music Teacher of the Year. I am also pleased and proud to say that my choirs consistently receive Superior ratings at festivals.
When I'm not teaching, you'll find me hiking with my husband, Derek, and our two golden retrievers, Dave and Katie. I also enjoy camping with my family, riding my bike, hanging out with my super cool teacher friends, and I can occasionally be seen singing on stages throughout the San Diego area. I look forward to getting to know you better this year!
