Education is an inherent right. I believe that every child has the ability to learn. Each unique individual needs a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students strive to meet their potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. In order to create this environment there are three elements that need to be established (1) facilitate students to become critical thinkers, (2) make modifications for diverse learners, (3) motivate children to love learning by making the curriculum fun and inviting. As an education specialist it is my goal to have students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves as well as motivate students to have an intrinsic desire to learn. Being an effective educator is an ongoing challenge yet I hope to continue to learn and grow, along with my students.
I have been a teacher in the STARS Program at both the primary and secondary level; I have taught at Lindbergh/Schweitzer Elementary School, Ray A. Kroc Middle School and was fortunate to have the opportunity to remain in my classroom when the site transitioned to CPMA Middle School, where I have since remained. CPMA has been a great place to be, as the students are surrounded by engaging and caring staff. I'm thrilled to be a part of this learning community.
