Welcome to Room 15!

Hi students and families! Welcome to a challenging and exciting school year! We will spend the year mastering grade level standards and practicing work habits and study skills in preparation for middle school and beyond.

I bring 18 years of K-8 teaching experience to Crown Point. I earned my Bachelor Degree and NY Teaching Credential from the State University of New York and my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and CA Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. I’ve spent the past four years as the 5th grade teacher at Crown Point. The four years prior, I served Crown Point and the district as a Mathematics Resource Teacher. That experience provided me a powerful opportunity to study how children develop their mathematical ideas. I have taught at every level K-8 in some capacity including summer sessions and extended day classes.

Within the past five years I have completed my GATE and National Board Certifications. I’m always eager to investigate the latest research on how children learn and vary in their learning.  I strive to find my student’s strengths and build on them. Three years ago I was selected by the district to participate in a Colonial Williamsburg Institute immersing myself in social studies curriculum: American History. Throughout the entire curriculum we will continue to develop respect for individual and cultural diversity.

Beyond my experience, 4th and 5th grade students also have the opportunity to participate with specialists in violin, guitar, music, dance, and P.E. classes. Book and technology clubs offer enrichment opportunities to enhance, encourage and develop reading and writing skills.

As I said, it’s an exciting year. And with enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for this job I love, I look forward to teaching your children and getting to know all of you.
