Barnard Asian Pacific Language Academy News

  • All 3rd thru 5th grade students enrolled in Barnard's Mandarin Immersion program participated in the Children's Chinese Competency Certification exam in the Spring of 2016. I am very proud to announce that 97% of our students passed the certification exam. Congratulations to all of our students for such a tremendous accomplishment! Principal Hernandez
  • Join us from 2:00-3:00 pm on August 26 for TK and Kinder Orientation. Students, you can find out who your teacher will be and get a look at your classroom. At 3:00 our wonderful PTA will be hosting a "back to school" social so all can mingle and get to know each other. Starting at 4:00 we will post class schedules for all students.
  • Congratulations to our fantastic intern, Dolly (Chi-Jung Chuang), who received the Emily Stowell Scholarship Award. She was surprised by Principal Hernandez at our Monday morning assembly. She was chosen for her engagement not only at our school but also among the parents and in the wider community. Barnard is very proud of Dolly!
  • Please join us in the auditorium on June 10 at 8:30 am. Meet Principal Hernandez and get an overview of what your child's transitional kindergarten or kindergarten year will look like. Attached is a message from our PTA who will also be at the orientation.

  • Congratulations to Alex Markworth who took 1st place in the Chinese Bridge Competition at Mission Bay High School on Friday, May 13. Keenan Mullen took third. We are very proud of our Barnard students and so thankful to the teachers and interns who worked very hard with their students.

  • Please join us next Wednesday, May 11, for our Spring Open House. Meet Principal Hernandez in the auditorium at 5:00 pm. From 5:30 to 6:45 classes will be open so you can check out the wonderful things your students have been learning.
  • SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) testing begins for all 3rd graders on May 16. Fourth and fifth graders will begin testing on May 23. Make sure your children are well rested for this important part of their school year. Please note: Non-school personnel are not allowed in classrooms during state testing.
