  • Barnard Students start their day with an aerobic workout!
  • Chi Running Club will begin Wednesday, September 12, from 7:15 to 7:30 am. It will take place every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning on the grass field. Come on out and get some exercise before your day starts. Parent volunteers and runners are welcome.
  • If you're interested in having your student attend Barnard Mandarin Magnet School next year, we will be conducting school tours starting Monday, Sept. 10, from 10:15 to 10:45 am. These tours will be on Mondays only and will run through Nov. 5. No appointment is necessary.
  • Welcome to the new school year at Barnard. We are looking forward to seeing all our students on Monday, August 27, the first day of school. Students may be dropped off at 7:25 and school starts promptly at 7:45. Remember, there is no parking in the drop off zone. If you wish to walk your student in you will have to park on the street or across Grand at Mission Bay High School. Our parking lot is for staff only.   • Congratulations to Bridgette Gaal Anderson, recipient of this year's "Lily Higman Outstanding Lifetime Volunteerism" Award! This award is given annually by the Barnard PTA to the parent of a graduating 5th grade student who has exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and dedication to our school during their student's years at our school. Like Lily did before her, Bridgette has demonstrated outstanding commitment, hard work, and generosity in service to our students and teachers throughout the past six years. Thank you for all you have done for Barnard, Bridgette!
  • Congratulations to Bonny Sobieck, Barnard's Classified Employee of the Year.
  • Mrs. Hernandez traveled to Anaheim on May 3 to accept Barnard's California Distinguished School award. The 2018 California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes California elementary schools that have made exceptional gains in implementing academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education.
  • On Sept. 15 Joshua, Giuseppe and Jaxon competed at the American Stars Scholastic Chess Tournament in Irvine. The boys took 1st and 2nd places. Special thanks to Coach Martin Nilsson from Chess Minds in Motion for his after school enrichment classes, tournament training and support.
  • Barnard Mandarin Magnet Elementary School is pleased to announce that we have been named a 2018 California Distinguished School. Congratulations to our students and staff.
