Uganda Education Campaign
The sponsored students of Northern Uganda are grateful for your educational support that MMS and LJHS have provided for the past eleven years. It is only because of your kind generosity that 30 orphans have had the opportunity to attend school, have a bright future and help their families and communities advance.
Please Donate: April 15th – May 3rd
When Melia, a sophomore at LJHS heard about the atrocities of the LRA War and so many children as a result becoming orphans and out of school, she took action. In 2006 at LJHS she began a new club and this campaign to raise funds for 24 orphans whom she met in Uganda in 2007. She was deeply touched by their hardship and conditions of their lives in extreme poverty, void of an education. She made a commitment to these students then that in collaboration with the extraordinary generosity of MMS and LJHS the funds would continue to be raised to keep them in school until they completed their education and reach their highest level of academic success. MMS and LJHS have maintained and fulfilled this commitment and have unwaveringly supported these children for almost a dozen years.
U-TOUCH, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, was developed and created Technology Innovation Hubs to help sponsored students learn technology skills. Additionally, the Hubs are available free to youth out of school to advance their lives gaining access to computers including the highly valued Internet. U-TOUCH has grown to help many more children and trained and certified over 5000 students in Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum giving them the competitive advantage for employment and entrepreneurship. MMS and LJHS in collaboration with U-TOUCH are making a sustainable impact.
MMS ASB is therefore asking each class to raise funds during the next few weeks to keep these orphans in school and continue the free technology training. MMS is committed to these sponsored students, which amounts to $8,000 this year. Therefore, it is so critical that we receive your support now. 100% of your donation reaches the Ugandan sponsored students and community students at the Technology Hubs. The total of each MMS student’s collection of donations will be appreciated with hand-made Ugandan gifts of their choice at levels of $35, $75, $100, $250, $500 or higher. Additionally, first period classes that collect $250 or more will receive a giant “Uganda Have a Chocolate Chip Cookie” party. The two classes that collect the most with the greatest participation will receive a pizza party and giant “Uganda Have a Chocolate Chip Cookies”.
All donations are 100% tax deductible and donors will receive a tax-deduction receipt. For further information contact: email@example.com / 858.945.3220.
