To the Parents of the Instrumental Music Students at Muirlands Middle School
‘The Big Final Concert’ will be Thursday, June 7th and will begin at 7:00 p.m. and should end around 8:30 in the Muirlands Auditorium.
All Strings students should arrive at 6:00 p.m., to get set up and tuned in our music room. You should leave your cases in the classroom. Then you will carefully walk with your instrument and your music folder to the auditorium and be seated in front of the stage. If we are able to get some lights on the stage, then we will set up on the stage.
Cello players will need a donut or a belt to secure your instrument on the slippery tile floor in the auditorium.
After your performance, you will keep our instruments with you and you will switch seats with the band and watch their performance. Then you will go back up on the stage for our Grand Finale.
All band students should arrive at 6:30. Then you will be directed by Mr. Evan to line up in order with your instrument and your music and you should walk quietly to the auditorium to be seated so you can then listen to the strings perform. When you finish your performance, you will have to make room for the strings to come up on stage so we can perform our Grand Finale.
Concert performance order will be as follows:
- 1st All Strings
- 2nd Full Band
- 3rd 7th Period Band
- 4th All Band and All Strings combined for the ‘Big Finale’.
- Several small ensembles will also be performing on the stage throughout this concert.
There will be short breaks while several of us move music stands and chairs to accommodate the different groups, so please be patient and enjoy some fresh baked goods and refreshments.
To all students, you should not be running around outside of the auditorium while the other groups are performing. For the most part you should be seated quietly in the chairs placed on the sides of the auditorium.
All music students are expected to attend this concert.
Concert Dress; white shirt or blouse, black pants or skirt. Please dress nicely.
I would like to thank Mr. Bill Gilmer, Mr. Evan Walsh, and Miss Rachel Emmons for their experience and patience while assisting me with all the groups. I could not have done this without them.
I would also like to thank all the parents, the administration, the teachers, and the Foundation, for supporting instrumental music here at Muirlands Middle School, and also for understanding the importance of music in your child’s education.
The students and I have worked hard to prepare for this concert.
So please bring all your family and friends to hear the beautiful and powerful sounds of your young musicians.
We do look forward to entertaining you.
Sincerely, Mr. David Rouillard cell # 619-772-2361
