8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Wednesday, June 13, 2018 - 8:30am to 9:30am
The Promotion Ceremony will be held in the La Jolla High School Stadium. Please refer to the “Authorization for Student Participation” (Permission Slip) which is due to Science teachers on or before Wednesday, June 6. All students participating in the promotion ceremony MUST have a signed permission slip!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you would like your child to leave with you at the conclusion of the ceremony, please complete the “Absence Excuse Slip For Parent’s Signature” that is copied on the “Authorization for Student Participation” (Permission Slip).
On June 12, 2018 all students participating in the Promotion Ceremony will be required to report to their 1st period class at 7:30 a.m. Period 1 Teachers will escort their classes to the Muirlands Auditorium for Promotion Rehearsal. Student participation in the Promotion Rehearsal is mandatory to participate in the Promotion Ceremony.
The Promotion Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. on June 13, 2018. Students MUST report to their 1st period class by 7:30 a.m. Parents and guests must enter the LJHS Stadium at the stadium gate on Fay St. (North of the pool). Please do not walk through the La Jolla High School’s main campus. LJHS will still be in session during our Promotion Ceremony. Please do not park in either the Muirlands or La Jolla High School parking lots.
The adherence to the regular school dress code will be required. This will be reviewed with students at an assembly and at the promotion rehearsal. Students who might be unsure whether their planned attire is appropriate and acceptable for the occasion can discuss with an administrator or counselor (showing a picture is a great idea!). Spaghetti straps or sleeveless dresses will require a cover up and heels are not recommended. We look forward to an enjoyable and dignified celebration of your accomplishments.
Students will not be permitted to bring any personal belongings. For example, packs, purses, cameras, bouquets, leis, noise makers, balloons, etc. will NOT be allowed inside the Muirlands auditorium or LJHS stadium.
Appropriate Dress Guidelines (Recommended)
Girls: Dresses or blouses/skirts which are in line with the school dress code, and appropriate flat shoes (no flip-flops, tennis shoes, etc.). Pumps and heels are not recommended, in order to reduce the potential of tripping while walking from Muirlands to LJHS and to protect the turf surface.
Boys: Slacks, dress shirts, and dress shoes (no flip-flops). Sport coats or suits are optional.
