Principal Message on Technology Distribution 4.42020
Good afternoon, Morse families. This is Cynthia Larkin, principal of Morse High School. I hope all is well with you.
I want to first thank all of you for your patience during this unprecedented time. All that has taken place is not ideal and we are just about to launch into the realness of our district's distance learning format.
Technology Needs Survey
For those of you who took the time to fill out the technology needs survey...thank you. If you have not yet filled out the survey, here is the link: https://forms.gle/X9QahDr3P3rRYuET8. Just so you know, I am responsible for ensuring that our students have the necessary technology to participate in distance learning. So at some point next week, I and some staff members will have to call the homes of families who did not fill out the survey.
Technology Distribution at Morse High School
Attached to this email is the schedule for technology distribution and a letter explaining the process for distribution. Morse students will pick up their technology on two days: Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday, April 8th from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Please check the schedule for the correct time frame based on students' last names. Other schools are picking up their technology from Morse as well, so please only come on the day and time you have been assigned.
IMPORTANT: Please bring your photo ID and show proof of identity for your child by providing your:
1. Child’s school ID card OR
2. Student ID number OR
3. Child’s date of birth and address
4. Write your child’s name, ID number, or date of birth and address in large print on a sheet of paper that can be easily ready by staff members from a distance of at least 6 feet. Carry this with you to the line or place on the dash or your car and be prepared to show it to staff.
*Students in middle or high school may pick up their laptop device without a parent or guardian present.
If you all have any questions regarding the technology distribution process, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am inquiring about how the Internet portion is going to work. I see where they are encouraging families who do not have Internet to sign up for Cox's discounted service, but I want to know what are the other "additional options" are that are mentioned in the letter. Once I learn what those options are, I will email you all again.
I will also email you all a separate email regarding the distance learning format. I still need to read through all of the materials the district sent principals and figure this all out. Once I am clear on some things, I will let you all know more information.
Those of you who have been emailing me, feel free to continue doing so. I am here to support ALL Morse students and parents. You are NOT bothering me. So reach out for clarity whenever you need to.
Thanks again, and keep yourselves safe and wearing your cloth masks when appropriate.
Dr. Cynthia Larkin, Principal, Morse High School
