About the Band & Color Guard
Welcome to the MMHS Band & Color Guard Program!
"Sapphire Sound"

As an educator for 24 years, I believe in "Music" and all that it can do for a student.  The arts are essential to the academic success of any student and it is my passion to help students along through these four years of high school. Within the Band and Color Guard, we have a comprehensive program.  Students can learn and develop their instrumental skills, take AP Music Theory, which will help their growth in music comprehension and composition, have repeated opportunities for performance, set high goals and standards, and have the opportunity to become a student leader. Accountability and teamwork are essential in each class and the motto, "Never give up" is something we live by.

The 2014-2015 school year will start off with the "Sapphire Sound" Marching Band and Color Guard who compete against other groups throughout the fall.  This group becomes the Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands for festival season in the second semester.  Members from the Band have the opportunity to audition for the Musical Pit Orchestra, be a part of the Pep Band for Basketball games, or form small ensembles.  Students will also be encouraged to audition for the District, All-Southern, and State level Honor Bands.

The 200-member Marching Band and Color Guard is presenting our field show from Aaron Guidry's, "Beyond Perimeters". We invite you to join us at a football game, our Annual Band Tournament hosted at school on November 1st, and/or at our Winter Concert on December 11, 2014.  The calendar of events is located on my page and is updated each week.

Our program believes in hard work, focus, commitment, and making great music!  The Band room is a second home for many and my door is always open.  Enjoy the 2014-2015 school year! ~ Mrs. C

Here's the mid-year news:

The Sapphire Sound has been invited to perform in the 2016 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA!  We are very excited and honored to be selected for this prestigious event. Look for updates, meetings, and fundraisers on the "calendar" link and the "message from the director" link.  This will be an exciting set of month as we "Find Our Adventure" this next January 1, 2016.
