Hello! And welcome to Marvin Elementary School Science. I’m Mr. Baham your student’s science teacher. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Natural Science at San Jose State University, California. After graduation, I was immediately hired as the Biological, Environmental Sciences and Physical Education teacher at Pioneer high school, while continuing to pursuing my California Teaching Credential. Three years later, I moved to Hawaii where I taught Life Sciences at Mililani middle school for 10 years. Although happy teaching in Hawaii, my wife and I decided to move to Southern California. Having settled in the greater San Diego area, I secured a position as the Biological and Physical Sciences teacher at the Center for Performing and Media Arts (CPMA) middle school in Clairemont for 2 years. During the budget cuts of 2013, the district placed me at Marvin Elementary School as the Science Specialist where I have been since.
Born in Garden Grove, California, my family moved to San Jose, California when I was five. Although I love Southern California, I consider San Jose my ‘hometown,’ having lived there for over 20 years. (Go Warriors! And ‘Niners!) I met my wife while attending San Jose State University. We were married in Santa Cruz, CA and shortly after moved to Oahu, HI where she was born and raised. My son, CJ is in the fine arts program at Long Beach State and my daughter, Jonny plays beach volleyball for the Wildcats at the University of Arizona. On the weekends you can find me playing beach volleyball with my friends in Carlsbad.
During my time at Marvin Elementary, I have developed a respect and affection for the students, parents, administrators, and staff! Everyone is very supportive, no matter how small or grand the request. It may go without saying, but I love teaching science! It's amazing to see kids have those aha! moments when connecting their classroom learning to their real-world experiences . . . for me there is nothing more rewarding.
