The California School Immunization Law Health and safety code requires students have their Tdap immunization before entering 7th grade class schedule will not be given to students who are missing the Tdap immunization on record at the school so please plan ahead.
If your student requires activity restrictions or modifications for medical reasons, a parent/guardian note will excuse the student for up to 3 days. A physician's note is required for longer excuses.
Excuses will not be accepted during PE class if they have not been reviewed by the nurse first. Students may visit the nurse for an excuse before school or during advisory.
Students MUST suit up for PE class but MAY not be required to participate, depending on the severity of the illness/injury, as determined by the school nurse.
Certain over-the-counter medications are available to students who have a “Health Information Exchange Consent Form” filled out and on file at school. The nurse will assess the situation, the student’s health history and dispense medication according to protocol.
If medications are required at school (daily or short term), a physician’s order is required.
Asthma and the use of Inhalers at School*
Students who use inhalers as prescribed by their physicians should have a duplicate inhaler brought to school to be kept in the Health Office. It is acceptable for students to carry and self-administer their inhalers; however, ONLY with the written permission of both the physician and parent/guardian.
*See "Files" to the left, for forms for asthma inhalers and other medications.
