Student progress reports are issued six times each school year – every six weeks.
Most teachers calculate the grade a student earns for each six week period and then averages the three grades to determine the semester grade for the student. At the end of the school year, the fall and spring semester grades are averaged for the end of the year report card grade.
The exceptions to this are courses for which students receive high school credit: Integrated Math I, Spanish 1-2 and Spanish 3-4. In these cases, if the student receives a failing grade for the first semester and a passing grade for the second semester, credit is allowed for both semesters and a passing grade of “D” is recorded for the first semester. If a student receives a passing grade for the first semester and a failing grade for the second semester, credit is allowed only for the first semester. This is school district policy.
The teacher contract and district policy state that a “D” or “F” grade on the second or fifth progress report will constitute written notification that a student is in danger of failing the course at the semester.
