Overview

District & State Assessments

 
The Assessment Services Department coordinates the administration and processing of all district, state, and federally-mandated assessments listed below; provides training and support for site test coordinators and principals; and maintains test security ensuring appropriate test administration and test preparation procedures are followed at all school sites.

FEDERAL:
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).
STATE:
California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE); California English Language Development Test (CELDT); FITNESSGRAM Physical Fitness Test; and Smarter-Balanced Assessments (replaces the CSTs).
DISTRICT:
Interim Assessments for Literacy and Mathematics, and Science Benchmarks; Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA); End-of-Course Examinations; and Writing and Reading Assessment Profile (WRAP).

Interim & Benchmark Assessments

Students in grades 1-8 are administered English language math & literacy interim assessments two times each year.   The interim assessments are district-developed, standards-based assessments that are aligned with the state standards.  Interim assessments provide information about students' understanding in relation to standards and this information will be used to target individual students who are in need of additional math and/or literacy support.
 
At Longfellow, students in grades 1, 2, 3, and 4 are also administered a Spanish literacy interim assessment. 
 
          Science benchmark exams are administered to students in grades 3-4-5.
 
            Students in grades 6-7-8 are also administered end-of-year course exams in math and literacy.
