Overview

Research shows that when parents are actively involved with their children's education, students' grades are higher,
their self-esteem is greater, and they are more socially adjusted. In fact, the most accurate indicator of a student's
academic success in school is not tied to family income or social status, but the extent to which a family:

  • Creates a home environment that encourages learning.
  • Sets high but realistic achievement and career expectations.
  • Becomes involved in their child's education and in the community.

Longfellow Spanish Immersion K-8 School attributes much of their success to volunteers offering their unique talents,
back groups and a variety of perspectives that each posses and whether it involves fundraising or simply working together
to make our school a better place it is participation across our entire community that makes Longfellow the gem that it is.

Volunteering is fun, creates common bonds and enriches educational experiences for our children.  Many friendships have
developed as a result of the connections. Following is a partial list of school-related opportunities:

  • Classroom Assistance
