John Logan K-8
Logan K–8 School is a learning community that prepares each student for academic, social, and personal success by providing a safe, supportive, challenging, and meaningful environment. Our goal is to produce lifelong learners proficient in all academic areas who act responsibly within the school community and in our multicultural world.
We are a K–8 school, with a K–6 elementary program and a middle school program for grades 7 and 8.
Logan Elementary was opened in 1891, making this the 123rd year of continuous service to the children of Logan Heights!
Some items of interest:
- Music Program: We offer our students in grades 5–8 orchestra and band, to provide another creative outlet and to offer an activity proven to boost student achievement. The district provides standards-based instrumental music instruction to students in grades 4–8. Elementary students are offered either pull-out, exploratory, or full grade-level programs. Instrumental music instruction at the middle school level is primarily offered though band and orchestra courses in which students participate in performances and productions.
- Schoolwide Writing Focus: A strategic plan that integrates writing into all curricula provides the key to Logan K–8 success. Guided by the California writing standards, the entire school community focuses on and practices various types of writing each quarter throughout the school year.
- Thinking Maps: Logan K–8 is a Thinking Map school. Thinking Maps are tools that assist students learn more effectively and more efficiently. Instructional objectives are covered in less time with greater retention. Thinking Maps also promote integrated thinking and interdisciplinary learning.
