What ASB Has Been Up To In 2018-2019?

August/ September:

Lincoln ASB kicked off the back to school spirit with a Back 2 School lunch time pep rally. This was also pushed to kick off school spirit for the first football game of the school year.

Our Community Service Commissioner organized a Campus Clean Up event to beautify the school anticipating Homecoming events for the week. The Homecoming game was against Point Loma on Friday, October 12th. Hornets engaged in lunch time rallies everyday proceeding our school pep rally in our New Gym where many clubs and organizations on campus showcased their skills and talents to the entire student body, including teachers and staff. Friday Night Lights Homecoming game was one to remember, with a half time show including a green Impalas and motorcycles motorcade for the 2019 Homecoming Court. Phonisha Pruitt was crowned Homecoming Queen and Nathan Banlusak was crowned King.

The following day, Saturday, October 13th, our Throwback to the 90s-themed Homecoming Dance was a success at the Jackie Robinson YMCA, our first time using that venue. The Lincoln Hornets also celebrated the anniversary of Lincoln Day with the first ever Lincoln Day Carnival, to celebrate the city council honored day to recognize Lincoln High School in the community in 2008. The Halloween-themed event featured performers, games, and the Nurse’s Office was converted into a haunted crime scene.

In the month of November Lincoln, ASB participated in the Warrior Foundation community service project, VET 500. ASB coordinated with various classrooms and teachers to create over 500 thank you cards to wounded service men and women who fought for our country and who are now in various levels of physiacal rehabilitation for combat-related injuries.

ASB took a trip to the Fire House Station 12 to go check out some of the ways the station is run. We also got a close look into the fire trucks and all the gadgets and functions they include. Finally we finished off the month with our first Foodie Fest and Club Rush of the year in the Center Quad. This was a lunch time rally that several clubs came to in order to give some information about their clubs and share some quick snacks for students to enjoy.

Lincoln ASB hosted a viewing party for the Lincoln community to celebrate with the Hornets Varsity Football team on their road trip to the State Championships in San Jose, CA. We also kicked off winter break with fun activities in center quad along with winter spirit week to celebrate with holiday spirit. Lincoln’s ASB proudly hosted the district ASB monthly meeting to collaborate and share ideas with other SDUSD ASBs about how to improve our campuses with unity and positivity to create a better campus experience for all students.

Lincoln ASB prepared for the Alumni Green and White ball dance and the return of the ASB Green and White Ball. Mainly this month ASB kicked back because of break and new schedule changes. At the end of the first semester, we lost some members and gained new ones in the new semester.
