High School Conference at SDSU

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Saturday morning. I’m sharing another amazing opportunity for students, teachers and parents to attend the HBSA High School Conference. It is on the same day as the AAAE conference so you would have to choose the event that interests you the most. Both conferences are FREE for students, teachers and parents. Please print out the flyers and post them in your classrooms.

Thank you,

Ms. Whigham

Message from Elmer Rodriguez

My name is Elmer Rodriguez and I'm a sophomore at San Diego State University (SDSU). I'm apart of an organization called The Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA). I'm emailing you regarding an upcoming event. The Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) at San Diego State University is hosting its annual FREE High School Conference for students of any grade level, it will take place on Saturday, March 9th at SDSU from 8:30AM-4:00 PM. We would like to invite you and your students to this annual event that aims at motivating and empowering students to pursue higher education.

HBSA’s mission is to raise awareness, address educational, and introduce business issues related to the general community. The organization was formed to increase enrollment of Hispanics and other minorities in higher education programs, promote business leadership, and entrepreneurship. Concerned with the low enrollment rates of Hispanic and minority students at four-year institutions, HBSA inaugurated an annual high school conference that has served hundreds of students throughout Southern California.

This conference will include a variety of workshops including: Student Life, Commuter Life, Education Opportunity Program (EOP), and a panel of past alumni. For many students, this will be their first college campus visit, and as part of the conference, we will be having a tour around campus. Please make sure students register before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th to guarantee that they will be provided lunch. The registration form can be found on the HBSA website: http://www.hbsa-highschoolconference.org/

We are pleased to announce that this year we will be offering two scholarships, open to any grade level, each worth $250. All scholarship applications must be turned in by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th. The scholarship application and any additional information are also available on our website at:

If you have any questions please feel free to email us and we will gladly respond in a timely manner. Additional information regarding parking, room locations, and further details will be sent out as the conference date approaches.

We hope you can attend this empowering event as it is completely FREE to students, advisors, and parents. The flyer for the event is attached and we hope you can distribute it to your students. Thank you.
