Physical Education

Physical Education significantly contributes to students’ well-being; therefore, it is an instructional priority for the Lewis Middle School Physical Education Department, and is considered an integral part of our students’ educational experience. Mastering fundamental movement skills, learning the basic concepts and rules of several games and disciplines, and understanding the importance of health, fitness, nutrition, and sportsmanship at an early age gives students an increased capacity for a lifetime of successful and enjoyable physical and social experiences.

The Lewis Coaches have done their best to maintain the priorities mentioned above as we have pushed over to Distance Learning.  Each Coach has created a class in Google Classroom and is expecting that each of their students join their class by Friday, April 24, 2020.  Class Codes were sent via School Messenger.  If your student still needs a class code please email their Coach.  An Activity Log will be assigned each week.  More detail and resources offered may be found once your student joins Google Classroom.

The state mandates at least 400 minutes of activity every 10 school days of physical education in grades 7-8 and for all four years of high school. We would like to encourage approximately 40 minutes of activity/day, 5 days a week. We would also like to encourage your family to join in on the activity as well.
