Announcements and Timelines

Parents are encouraged to stay current with school news via the Daily Bulletin and e-News blasts from the PTA. (Sign up on the home page of LJHS, left-hand shortcuts.)

Counselors are available to meet with students during the registration days to ensure that any scheduling errors (i.e. course request conflicts) may be addressed. Check the home page for details about dates and times for each grade level. Schedules will not be changed for any other reason during this time. (See the Academic_Handbook for other specific guidelines and policies.)

College Rep Visits for Juniors and Seniors:

Representatives from different colleges will be visiting La Jolla High School throughout the school year but mostly during the fall. Each student may attend up to five per year. Please sign up in Naviance and get a pass from the counseling office. 


College and Career Advising:

Counselors will be in classrooms for all grade levels for college and career advising during semester one. Seniors will have two visits in early September for college planning.

Financial Aid Night and Finalizing Applications for Seniors and Parents 6:00pm-7:00pm
Lunchtime College Presentation #1: Finalizing Your College List and Finding Hidden Gems.
Lunchtime College Presentation #2: Applications! Putting Your Best Foot Forward - Essays, Interviews, and Demonstrated Interest. 
Lunchtime College Presentation #3: Finishing Touches - Getting Your Applications Ready to Submit.
Lunchtime College Presentation #4: Alternative Paths - Community College, Trade school/Apprenticeships, Gap Year, and Military Options.

  • Articulation will take place the first six weeks of the semester. 

  • Counselors will visit all 11th grade social studies classrooms to present college planning information. 

  • Evening Program with Linda Dowley: 6:00-7:00pm for seniors/parents "Evaluating College Options" (Check eNews emails)

  • RACC Mock Admissions evening program for juniors and their families.
