Ms. Astorga was born in Long Beach, CA but raised in Tijuana, Baja California. She came back to the United States when she was 16 years old as an English Learner student. She graduated from San Ysidro High School. This is her third year at Kearny High as an Education Specialist Intern. She has worked with youth for over seven years, including working at summer camps, nurseries, a middle and high school prevention program and has worked in grades k-6 in both general and special education classrooms.
She obtained her Liberal Studies B.A. and completed her Bilingual Multiple Subject credential at San Diego State University where she is still currently attending in order to finish her Moderate to Severe Special Education Credential.
She has recently found a passion for traveling. She has traveled to Spain, Portugal, Ireland, England, Sweden, Malta, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and France. She also likes going to the movies and enjoying a relaxing afternoon by the beach.
Working with youth has always been a priority in Ms. Astorga’s life, she feels very lucky every day to get to work with and for the students.
