Welcome to Room K-3
Welcome to Muir! My name is Rainee Glickman. I have worked here at Muir for about 20 years. I also graduated from John Muir when it was called John Muir Alternative School. For me, it is a second home. I am looking forward to sharing what John Muir has to offer and to being your child's teacher this year.
I earned my B.A. at University of California, Santa Barbara, my teaching credential at UCSD, and my master's from National University. I also have a state issued Bilingual Certificate and years of trainings from the school district.
The engagement of all students in their education is very important to us at Muir. It is reflected in the Paideia philosophy of our school. In the lower grade levels, we build the foundations for the Paideia philosophy, the Paideia seminar, and project-based learning. Here in Room 1, while learning the curriculum (the academic standards), I will emphasize developing self-confidence, independence, and perseverance. Muir's Global Citizen focus will be an integral part of our Social Studies curriculum as we learn about citizenship and community. Additionally, each elementary class focuses on one continent; ours is Antarctica.
