A Staff that Keeps Learning
Jefferson teachers participate in on-going professional development to become masters at their craft. As one of four schools awarded with a S.T.E.A.M. grant (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math), our teachers have the unique opportunity to attend national and regional conferences in STEAM and IB subjects.
Almost all of our teachers have been part of the San Diego County Office of Education's Science Academy and all teachers at Jefferson are teaching with the new NGSS Science standards. Engineering training with Project Lead the Way as well as attending SPARK, an art conference, and the CUE technology conference are just some of the professional development our teachers have had.
All classrooms are equipped with Promethean boards, a doc camera and computers or tablets. As more technology rolls out, our teachers learn ways to bring this technology into their classrooms by attending courses provided by San Diego Unified.
