There are several exciting after school programs provided throughout the week for Holmes students to participate in. Please refer to the flyer that sent home with your children in the first two weeks of school or the program provider’s website for further details and registration instructions.
M/T/W/F Session times generally M, T, Th, F: 3-4pm and W: 12:35-1:35pm (please confirm with program provider about specific times/session dates)
Please note: After school programs are provided by independent program providers, approved through the San Diego Unified School District and are not supervised or operated by Holmes Elementary or the Holmes Elementary PTA. All registration activities and specific program questions should be directed to the program provider.
- Yoga –
Yoga Rascals offers classes for children of all ages. Kids stretch and strengthen their bodies in after school programs at local elementary schools.

- Chess Club -
Dubbed "The Evans Method" by the United States Chess Federation, Mountain Lake Chess Club offers chess instruction where students are challenged in a fun environment.
Start date: Monday, January 7, 2019 through February 4, 2019
- Worlds of Wonder Kid Coding –
Start date: Tuesday, January 8, 2019 through March 12, 2019 in the Computer Lab
- Mad Science -
Mad Science includes spectacular demonstrations, hands-on activities, and real world discussions make learning about science fun for kids. The interactive, one-hour after school science programs are themed around particular areas of science and include such topics as rocketry, magnets, polymers, and even the science of toys.

- Youth Tennis San Diego –
Youth Tennis San Diego provides tennis instruction for youth of all levels and experience.
Start date: Tuesday, January 15, 2019 through February 19, 2019 on the Upper Field
CYT is devoted to introducing performing arts to students by providing high quality experience that is educational and enjoyable. Each week students will explore performing arts through acting, singing and dancing. Visual and performance arts reinforce literacy, speaking and listening. They provide natural opportunities for students to communicate, collaborate, create and critically think.

- Golf -
TGA Premier Golf introduces golf at a young age through programs that provide a fun and enriching experience for children while being a convenient and affordable option for parents. Dedicated coaching staff help students develop their skills and a passion for golf while using the sports as a vehicle for delivering curriculums that are loaded with educational concepts including STEM and life skills such as respect, honesty, perseverance and sportsmanship.
Start date: Wednesday, January 9, 2019 through February 23, 2019 on the Lower Field 12:40 - 1:40 pm.
- Abacus Wizards Math –
The goal of the program is to teach students how to mentally calculate while at the same time enhancing and improving their brain. We use both the physical abacus device and iPad tablet games to train the most crucial cognitive skills. Students will be able to solve mathematical problems entirely in their heads. iPad tablets will be provided during class time to incorporate various brain games which will help develop their manual dexterity and hands-on motor skills.

Upstart basic basketball fundamentals is an after school program for boys and girls grade K-8 who want to learn the fundamentals of basketball. Our goal is to provide fun, safe, learning environment for all participants. We focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, rebounding, and learning how to play as a team. Participants will develop an understanding of the game as well as good sportsmanship. Come join us and improve your skills!

- MonArt –
The MonArt method has been taught to tens of thousands of public and private school children and is offered in privately owned MonArt schools, charter schools, and home school associations. This uniquely designed methodology teaches visual perception and realistic drawing skills on a level never before seen with young children and adults.

Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. The caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in- class coaching, communication, and curriculum. Coaches are the best-trained in the business and an expert-approved curriculum is age-appropriate and aligns with childhood education standards.

- Worlds of Wonder Arte de Espanol –
This amazing multicultural class will expose children to Spanish and teach/review vocabulary including; colors, numbers, shapes, and some basic commands. Class curriculum includes; songs, games, stories and of course amazing art projects. A combination of English and Spanish will be used during camp. Fabulous culture study art projects will be completed including projects inspired by; Mexican Talavera Tile Painting, Mexican Papel Picado, Mexican Huichol Beadwork, Bolivian Masks, Guatemalan Animal Art and more!

- Lego Robotics

- Heartlight –
Heartlight San Diego is a program of California Fitness Fun, a non-profit 501 c(3) organization that offers fitness programs for students. Heartlight Aerobics offers boys and girls the opportunity to participate in a non-competitive fitness activity where the emphasis is on fun and the individual achievement rather than “winning or losing.”
