Hage School Site Council/Site Governance Team
Dear Hage Parents/Guardians:
It is time for us to begin another promising year with our Hage School Site Council/Site Governance Team (SSC/SGT) for the 2016-2017.
The SSC/SGT is an elected committee of teachers, support staff and parents who work together to monitor and provide input with site instructional goals based on state testing data and any other pertinent issues that provide our children with a safe and enriched learning environment. All members have voting rights on school issues. The SSC members have voting rights on budget decisions concerning state categorical funding. Categorical funding encompasses the programs of Gifted and Talented Education, English Language Learners, Title 1 Funding and the Coordinated School Improvement Program. All Hage parents are always welcomed to any of the SSC/SGT meetings, but we must have elected members with voting rights. One huge piece as an SSC member is to review budget with the site admin team and make decisions for approving the instructional materials used to support all Hage Elementary instructional programs. The SGT has historically focused on school improvement issues and the standards based curriculum. The staff elects teacher and support staff members and the school parent community elects parent members. The Hage Community consists of a diverse population of learners that include Special Education, English Learners, GATE and military families.
The term of elected service is two years. The SSC/SGT meets mostly on the fourth Monday of each month at 2:30p.m. in the lounge, and the duration of each meeting is at least one hour. SGT meets for the first part of the meeting and the SSC meets for the second part. Committee members typically serve on both groups. We welcome your voices and need your input.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Hage’s SSC/SGT, please fill out the form below and return it to the school office. We also need to have a short bio about yourself so that it can be included next to your name on the voting ballot. In your bio please include your name, your child’s name and classroom and any other important info about yourself. Once the votes are counted new members will be contacted by the principal. For the 2016-2017 school year we are looking for 3 new parent/community members. We welcome the participation of all.
