Welcome!! My name is Brianna Valeska and I have been with the middle school here at Grant since the beginning. I teach both middle school music and elementary music at Grant. I love starting Grant students with music in the 4th grade and building a strong music program at Grant.
My first experience with music started in the 4th grade, when I signed up in my school’s orchestra and decided to play violin. It only took a year for me to develop a strong passion for playing music. I began playing the flute in 6th grade in my middle school band. I have played in numerous symphonies including the Civic Youth Orchestra, San Diego Youth Symphony, Grossmont College Symphony, San Diego State University Symphony and Tifereth Israel Orchestra. I have studied with some of the best violin teachers in San Diego including Nancy Hill, Mary Gerard, William Pordon and Hernan Constantino.
I received my degree in violin performance from San Diego State University in 2004 and have been teaching music for more than 15 years. My passion is teaching music. I love helping students develop the potential within and teaching them how to develop it into real, tangible skills. Teaching music has taught me invaluable lessons in communicating with students of all ages and needs, and has inspired me to constantly reach for the best and expect nothing less.
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, Maddox and Xander. We love to hike, camp, run, snow ski, dance, visit the beach, and spend time outdoors.
