It's not just about the science. "All events require teamwork, group planning and cooperation. The emphasis is on learning, participation, interaction, having fun and developing team spirit." Science Olympiad is a fantastic career builder and a great opportunity for students to interact with their peers around the county. A fee of $75 per participant is expected to cover much of the materials and supplies. Grant School PTA has generously sponsored Science Olympiad teams with additional funding. Go, Grant!
Parents, interested in mentoring Grant School's students in science and engineering? Have friends or colleagues we should bring on board to coach?
Coach Science Olympiad!
Volunteer coaches and students typically prepare together 1-2 hours per week in each event. Events are coached after school and evenings, as well as on an individual event basis according to volunteer coaches’ and students’ schedules. Volunteers require screening through the San Diego Unified School District, including fingerprinting for coaches and volunteer drivers. A TB test every 4 years is required for ALL volunteers.
