After graduating from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio with my BA in English, I relocated to San Francisco and began working in community relations for a large nonprofit organization. However, my educational career began three years later, after marrying a teacher and starting a family here in San Diego. I taught high school English for nine years before discovering the wonderful world of middle school. When I met my students on my first day at Coronado Middle School, I felt new life had been breathed into me. During my time at CMS, I earned my MA in Educational Administration at Point Loma Nazarene University and embarked upon my administrative career in 2007. I was a vice principal for eight years and am privileged to take the helm as Grant’s principal.
On a personal note, I am blessed to spend my leisure time with a remarkable man to whom I have been married more than 30 years. David is a fellow educator and has been my mentor, encourager, and friend. He is currently the superintendent of Lakeside Union School District. We have two adult children. Our son lives and works here in San Diego, and our daughter is in gradate school at Princeton.
I am dedicated to giving all children at Grant the opportunity to develop their skills, utilize their talents, peak their curiosity, and contribute to the community in meaningful ways. As a school leader, I believe that it is our collective responsibility to improve student achievement and outcomes. I welcome and encourage parents/guardians to be actively involved and engaged in their students’ education. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the school office for an appointment as we partner together. I look forward to working with our school community to provide the highest quality education for all our students.
