Profile of Whitney DeSantis, Ed.D., Principal of Foster Elementary School
Dr. DeSantis is coming to Foster Elementary in the San Diego Unified School District with 22 years of experience in elementary education. Whitney has served as a district office administrator, principal, and teacher in California. She began her career as a first grade teacher at Saint Therese Academy for three years, then moved to the Temecula Valley Unified School District teaching Kindergarten, First, and Fourth grades for nine years at three elementary schools. Whitney served as a district administrator for the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program for new teachers, an assistant principal, and principal in the San Marcos Unified School District for four years and then as principal in Coronado Unified School District for the past six years. While working full time, having her husband serve in the U.S. Navy with several deployments, and raising two children, Whitney earned an Ed.D. from Walden University (specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment), a Master of Arts in Education from California State University San Marcos, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University. Whitney and her husband have two children, two grandchildren and a beagle, and reside within the San Diego Unified School District Community.
