Mrs. Griffiths became the principal of Field Elementary Dual Immersion School in 2014. She has a strong educational background in various capacities of education. She grew up in a family of educators as both her parents retired after more than 30 rewarding years of service in public education as teachers. From this, she saw the dedication and professionalism that happens every day as teachers and staff work hard to provide children in our schools an excellent and rigorous education. This great work that she saw in others inspired her to become a teacher herself.
She began her career as a bilingual teacher and worked in two elementary schools in the San Diego Unified School District. Subsequently, she worked in several educational support positions including that of a Parent Academic Liaison, a Literacy Resource Teacher, and an English Learner Support Teacher.Following that, Mrs. Griffiths worked as the Vice Principal of a school which provided excellent programs and support for English Learners, GATE students, as well as students with special needs.Furthermore, Mrs. Griffiths has five years of experience in a Dual Immersion school in which she supported language acquisition in the One and Two Way Immersion programs offered there.
Mrs. Griffiths values a culture for her school that fosters trust, respect and collaboration amongst students, teachers, parents and the community. She knows that Field Elementary is an amazing school and that with each stakeholder working in collaboration with one another, the students of Field Elementary will attain the level of academic and social success that they are truly worthy of.
