There are no mistakes,
only opportunities to learn!
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Welcome to Room 151! As your child’s teacher this year, it is my pleasure to work closely with you to ensure a very positive experience this coming year. In fourth grade we do a LOT of work, but we have a LOT of fun as well!
I believe communication is vital to ensuring a successful year, so I encourage you to email me (the fastest way!), make an appointment, leave a message on my voice mail, etc. I think you will find that I am very accessible and responsive to your concerns and questions. YOUR first homework assignment is to send me a quick email with your name, your child’s first and last name, and any additional information you think would be helpful for me to know. Please put ‘Class Email List’ in the reference section. Thank you for your prompt attention to this assignment.
Your child will receive a planner, which will go home and back to school each day. Students are required to write all assignments and other pertinent information in the planner on a daily basis. I ask that you review the planner each evening and make sure your student has completed the homework assigned. Please initial that you have reviewed the planner each day. Initialing the planner does not indicate that the assignment is totally correct, but rather, that you know they did the assignment. As an incentive, your child will earn a ticket when you initial the planner, which they can use in our monthly raffle. I will check for any notes you write to me in the planner, and ask for you to do the same for me.
Back to School Night is THIS Thursday, August 31st. Please make every effort to attend this very important event, as you will have the opportunity to meet the other fourth grade teachers, Mrs. Casey, Mrs. Bailey, and Dr. Clark, and we will provide parents with much more information regarding fourth grade curriculum and expectations. I will also have a sign-up sheet available then for anyone who may be able to lend their assistance in the classroom as a parent volunteer. **You must be cleared by the health office to volunteer at school.**
Please review the suggested supply list for fourth grade, which is posted on the school website: www.sandi.net/ellenbrowningscripps. All supplies deemed necessary for your child's education are required to be provided for free by the school. The purchasing of supplies by parents is optional, but appreciated. This list of supplies is provided as a courtesy to those parents who wish to purchase supplies for their child. If possible, all students should have their supplies no later than next Tuesday, September 5th, preferably prior to that date. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Thank you for sharing your child with me. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with a great group of students and their families!
