Elissa Jacobs

Dear parents:

Welcome to kindergarten!  My name is Elissa Jacobs and I will be your child’s teacher this year in room 211.  I am very excited to teach and watch your child grow in kindergarten.  Here is a little about me, I have been teaching for over sixteen years.  My focus has been on kindergarten and first grade throughout the years with a short experience in a four/five combo.  I have a Master’s Degree in Education from SDSU.  I am pleased to say that this is my fourth year at EBS and look forward to many years ahead at this wonderful school.

Kindergarten is a very important academic year for your child.  Every student will gain strength, skill and confidence in reading, writing, math, and oral expression.   Students will strengthen their knowledge of letters and sounds through our word study program.  He/she will be taught strategies to use independently during reading and writing.   I will work will small groups during guided reading and confer with children during Writer’s Workshop regularly.  Math and science will be engaging with “hands-on” activities.  Your child will participate in a “wheel” for science, social studies and art in which they rotate to different kindergarten classrooms.

Students will participate in the Fine Artists’ program along with music and computer lab.

I look forward to getting to know each other (both students and parents) and building a classroom community of learners.
