Dr. Andrew Currie
Andrew Currie is a dedicated and enthusiastic science teacher for East Village High School, teaching chemistry and biology to his students.
He holds Bachelors and Doctorate Degrees in Chemistry from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, and worked for 25 years in the chemical industry before entering the teaching profession. He began teaching at East Village High School shortly after receiving a teaching credential from San Diego State University in 2008.
What is your favorite part about working at East Village?
Teaching chemistry and biology to young people. It’s important to emphasize a hands-on and inquiry driven approach to learning. My goal is for students to leave SDEMC being able to think and write like a scientist.
When you’re not busy being a great teacher, what do you do in your spare time?
I really enjoy nature. I’m a volunteer Canyoneer for the Natural History Museum, where I guide interpretive hikes for the public throughout San Diego county.
