PL Cluster Foundation November 6th Meeting

You are invited to attend the next meeting of the Point Loma Cluster Schools Foundation on Monday November 6th at 4:30pm in the Correia  Library. We will be discussing how parents can effectively engage with their student’s education at every grade level.

The Point Loma Cluster Schools Foundation is a collaborative group of parents, teachers, and principals who are dedicated to vertical alignment of the nine Point Loma cluster schools. 

Working together through monthly group meetings and subcommittees, PLCSF builds community, educates parents, supports student achievement, and works to ensure smooth transitions between schools. 

PLCSF is dedicated to providing families with:

  • Communication - to share what’s going on at the district and cluster levels
  • Context - for greater understanding of why district and cluster information matters
  • Connections - for opportunities to engage more deeply with student education on a variety of levels

 

OCTOBER MEETING

The following items were discussed during our October 2nd PLCSF Meeting

Item 1 - Potential Topics for Parent Educational Events

The PLCSF will design parent nights around this hot topics. The PLCSF went through a gallery walk activity to identify the hot topics that the Teach 20 survey produced. The representatives identified these hot topics as the focus areas for this year.

  • How to Teach Failure as an Option to Learn
  • Student Engagement - Ownership of Learning
  • Parent Engagement - How to Stay Connected to Your Child's Education
  • Socio-Emotional Learning

Item 2- We discussed the PLCSF vision

Item 3 - Roles and responsibilities for foundation members

 Two way communication between cluster foundation members and individual school communities is important. Parent representatives need to coordinate with their Principals regarding how this information will be shared.
