My name is Donna Vaughan and I am the enthusiastic teacher of a 2nd/3rd grade combo in room 6. I am interested in helping children be joyful about coming to school to learn.
I have been teaching for twenty years in the San Diego Unified School District and have been a participant in state of the art professional development for teachers in mathematics, reading, and science, as well as restorative justice and mindfulness courses geared to help children be the considerate and caring members of their communities we need for our collective future.
I am also the mother of two grown children-Laura and John, grandmother of a three year old-Gigi and a nine month old-Niko, the wife for thirty-nine years of Eric, and a reader, musician, and avid gardener. I also have a cat named Winston that is 36 inches long. He is one big cat!
This past year I named our classroom ‘Room6ontheEndeavour’. We patterned ourselves after Captain Cook’s research vessel from the 1700’s. The Captain, Officers, and Crew learned so much in our year of discovery that I will be repeating the theme again this year. Ship ahoy!
