The 2017-2018 school year is my third teaching at CPMA. I am not a brand new teacher, nor a "spring chicken," (regardless the nickname the students like to test me with).*
In 2003, after 20 years in the Graphics Industry, providing services as a Graphic Artist, Designer, Cartoonist, Illustrator, Animator, Graphics Supervisor and Project Manager, I returned to school to earn a Teaching Credential and Masters in Education. I completed my studies and received a Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Art, and a Masters in Education from National University in 2009. As 2017 begins, the overwhelming requests for our Drawing and Painting classes, as well as Multimedia Design (Digital Art) means I will not be teaching the 6th-grade Wheel this year.
Facilitating the acquisition of skills in traditional Art (Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media and Sculptural Crafts), and Multimedia Design (Digital Art), my highest endeavor is to entice your children to pursue a visual arts education, and eventually, a career.
In 2011 I completed the courseware and earned the Designated Subjects Credential in Arts, Media & Entertainment. This certificate, coupled with 30-plus years in Graphics, qualifies me to to teach Graphic Design classes through Career, College and Technical Education (CCTE).
My personal objective is to continue my education and service to the students in my care by constant research and application of the study of Art and its significance to our students' creative endeavors.
