Meet Mr. McDade
As the new Principal at Correia Middle School, it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve such an outstanding community. It is my desire to work with you, your child, and the staff to continue to foster a strong sense of community in order to increase student achievement.
Raised in New Jersey, I moved to San Diego in 1984 and quickly fell in love with all its amenities. After graduating from SDSU in 1988, I served as a counselor for youth intransition throughout San Diego. In transitioning to education in 1992, I utilized my counseling background, honed my teaching skills, and developed leadership capacity to make an impact in the lives of children. Throughout my educational career, I have worked as teacher, supervising teacher, mentor teacher, peer coach, assistant principal, and principal. From the varied experiences throughout my career, I learned that the best method to increase and maintain high student achievement and socio-emotional wellness is to foster the development of a strong school community where the principal, staff, and parents collaborate in order to best meet the needs of their students.
Another key ingredient that has shaped my leadership is being a parent, an involved father. My family includes my amazing wife Stephanie, 9 year-old daughter Kalli, and 7 year-old son Marcus. Stephanie is a third grade teacher at Curie Elementary in University City while Kalli and Marcus attend Jerabek Elementary in Scripps Ranch. Like many modern families we embrace a life of excitement and adventure staying very, very, very busy.
In using my experiences as an educator and as a parent, I will serve the Correia community with vision, passion, commitment, and transparency. I am truly excited to be joining the already outstanding team at Correia Middle School and I look forward to serving my new learning community.
