The San Diego Unified School District is facing a budget deficit due to a combination of factors, including the increase in pension and healthcare costs, and an increasingly competitive labor market. These contributors are not excuses, they are facts. Please follow this link to view a 17-18 budget FAQ.
See below for the message from the Principal dated March 8th.
Dear Correia Families,
I would like to give an update about our school budget for next year. Headlines and social media paint a very dismal picture for the school district budget for 2017-18. Fortunately Correia Middle School's instructional program will continue to move thrive! A few teachers will be given notice due to seniority and temporary status, but we hope to get them back as they offer a unique service to our school and students. Our school has been operating on a thin budget for several years. I do not expect any positions to be eliminated or reduced. We have benefited greatly from tremendous parent support and are very thankful for your hard work and dedication to our students! Your support will become even more important as we look to purchase school supplies for next year's students. Please know that our students are our priority and protecting them from feeling the budget crunch is our constant goal. Please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Thank you for your support.
