Summer STEM Camp at SDSU, June 19 – June 23, 2017

San Diego Unified - Where Every Student is a Star

Dear Parent / Guardian,

It is my pleasure to inform you we are partnering with San Diego State MESA (Math Engineering Science Achievement) to off another summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Camp (STEM) at San Diego State University, June 19 – June 23, 2017. The intent of this STEM Camp is to introduce students to STEM career fields. Most importantly, your child gets direct exposure to the college atmosphere, STEM curriculum and related projects. The goals are to inspire students to strive for excellence in all areas, continue their education beyond high school and pursue STEM related career opportunities.

The concept of this program is a free, five day experience for 50 San Diego Unified College Career Technical Education students on the SDSU campus. Bussing will be provided for schools identified through student application, to SDSU and back daily (or students can be dropped off by parents). All meals and snacks are provided for the entire camp. Through this program, students receive classroom lectures by SDSU professors, hands-on projects, experiments and activities. Visits to STEM related work sites and the University’s Engineering Research Laboratories will also be included as part of the curriculum. There will be an opportunity June 23 for parents to attend a closing ceremony where you will see what your students have done during the camp.

This initial letter is intended to notify you of the STEM Camp. Including your information below indicates that you would like more information. Many students will want to participate, but space is limited. If this is of interest to your student now please have your student apply ASAP using this link goo.gl/ZxyEQN.

Your son/daughter will be notified by June 1st of their application status as well as sites for transportation. If you have any questions, I can be contacted at (619) 725-7333
