We are glad you are looking to become part of our Chieftain family! All prospective students must please follow these steps:
STEP 1: DETERMINE IF YOU NEED TO ENROLL WITH SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT (SDUSD)
You do not need to re-enroll if:
Your student is currently attending Clairemont’s feeder middle: Marston Middle School.
Your student will be moving into the Clairemont neighborhood cluster (feeder pattern). Student Information will be transferred automatically by the school your student is currently attending. You may skip directly to Step 3: CONTACT CLAIREMONT HIGH. *Note: If you are unsure of your neighborhood feeder patterns, please visit the SDUSD Enrollment Page for more information and/or check the SDUSD School Finder to determine your neighborhood school by entering your home address.
- Your student will still need to contact CHS and choose an Academy Pathway. Please skip to STEP 4.
You do need to enroll if:
Your student is attending school for the first time
Your student is new to the district (they have recently moved into the San Diego Unified boundary or they were previously attending a private school, charter school or were home-schooled).
Your student was previously attending a district school, but has moved to a different area of the district.
STEP 2: HOW TO ENROLL IN SDUSD
First, please look over the SDUSD Enrollment Requirements Page, which explain in detail the necessary proof of residency documents and immunization records.
Then, SDUSD offers two options for enrollment: online and in person at Clairemont High. Please visit the SDUSD Enrollment Page for more information.
STEP 3: CONTACT CLAIREMONT HIGH SCHOOL
Please contact Clairemont High (call or come in) and ask to speak to our Front Desk Clerk For Enrollment, Marla Archuleta. Marla can be reached at 858-273-0201, ext. 2229.
The Front Desk Clerk will verify if your student is already within SDUSD and if they are from our Clairemont neighborhood.
If your student is from the Clairemont cluster neighborhood, you will need to provide our Front Desk Clerk with the necessary district enrollment documentation including: student’s most recent transcript, proof of residency, and proof of current immunizations. For more specific information on which documents to bring in, please visit the SDUSD Enrollment Requirements Page.
If your student is from out of district or new to district, you will be directed to the SDUSD Enrollment Page to follow the steps to enroll, which include all of the steps above and a copy of birth certificate. Then, you can bring documents back to our Front Desk Clerk.
VEEP (Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program) and Choice Programs: If your student attends a SDUSD school that is out of the Clairemont cluster area, you may qualify to petition to enroll them at Clairemont through one of these programs. Please visit the Neighborhood Schools and Enrollment Options for more information about this process.
STEP 4: CHOOSE A CLAIREMONT ACADEMY PATHWAY
Once steps for enrollment above have been completed, all incoming 9th -11th grade students must apply for an academy pathway.
Clairemont High offers students four Linked Learning Academy Pathways to focus their high school experience. Students choose one of these four academies: (1) Academy of Business (2) Academy of Engineering Design (3) Academy of Health & Medical Sciences (4) Academy of Information Technology
Before choosing, students and parents should read more information about our four academies on our CHS Academies Page, and download and read our Academy Overview Documents.
Students and parents must then complete the Academy CHS Academy Pathway Application for New Enrollees 2016-17. You can receive this application from the Front Desk Clerk at Clairemont High, or download and print it here in English or Spanish:
Your student’s completed Academy CHS Academy Pathway Application must be submitted to the Front Desk Clerk at Clairemont. She will route it to your student’s Clairemont High Guidance Counselor, who will place the student into their first or second choice academy based on their responses and availability in each academy.
