Welcomeback to school! I am excited to begin this new school year with your child!Many engaging, challenging, and enriching activities are being planned for thisyear. I will keep in close and consistent contact with you regarding upcomingevents, but here is some helpful information that will get us off to a greatschool year!
Homework:Homeworkis a very important part of your child’s academic growth. Homework is mostsuccessful when it is made part of the family routine. Provide a quiet room foryour child to complete their homework. Homework packets will be sent out every Monday in their blue homeworkfolders. Please have your child keeptheir homework folder in their backpack daily. Parents are encouraged to helptheir children when needed, but encourage independence as well. Homeworkpackets with parent signatures will be due every Friday morning at 7:45! Students who do not turn inany homework will move their color card to yellow (warning). Any unfinishedhomework will be completed at recess. Homeworkpackets will include the following: Mandatory 20 minutes of reading at homewith a completed reading log. If youhave any questions please ask me or send a note with your child byThursday.
In order to create apositive and academically enriching atmosphere, good behavior isnecessary. My discipline plan will befirm, fair, and consistent. Studentswill be rewarded and restricted according to their behavior choices. Color cards will be attached inside of yourchild’s homework folder each night (see paper clip). Please leave card inside the folder. Pleasecheck your child’s color card each day, encouraging and reinforcing appropriateclassroom behavior. Students willreceive praise, stickers, prizes, and other rewards for exceptional behavior! Feelfree to leave me any comments on their color card or send me a note. Colorcard system:
Green: Great Day! (First warning- verbalwarning, Second Warning-owe ticket)
Yellow: Third Warning
Fourth Warning (verbalwarning and owe ticket)
Orange: Time Out/Lose recess,Note or phone call home
Red: Parent Conference/Principalcontacted/Referral
