Students Learn About the Voting Process

To encourage students to become active voters once they are old enough to cast a ballot, Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson invite high school and middle school students, teachers and principals to participate in the California Student Mock Election, which will take place on October 9, 2018, for the Gubernatorial General Election.  They are working in conjuction with MyVoice National Student Mock Election to emphasize the importance of voting and how government affects our lives as individuals during this election year.

Ms. Morrow is coordinating the Challenger's Mock Election so students can take part in this process during their lunch period.  Information about the candidates and propositions will be posted on the lunch court so students will be able to educate themselves about the issues.  Some 8th grade U.S. history classes will also review the candidate statements and quick reference guide to the propositions as provided by California Student Mock Election.
