Restorative Circles in the Classroom

CMS Restorative Circles

At Challenger, we are in the process of applying restorative justice our practices.  With the goal of addressing stress and bullying at the middle school level, our school psychologist and counselors have been working with teachers to build a sense of community with restorative circles in classrooms.  Restorative circles encourage friendship, understanding, and acceptance.  Every member feels that they are seen, heard, and respected.  In a circle, kids share their stories of joy and sorrow to feel more connected to each other and to the school.  Improved social skills, increased empathy, and building confidence are also a benefit of these circles.  If you have any questions, about restorative circles, please contact your student’s school counselor.
