On February 4, fifty-nine students representing the first and second place winners in the English classroom spelling bees gathered in the auditorium to determine who would represent Challenger at the San Diego Union-Tribune County-wide Spelling Bee. The day began with a delicious breakfast followed by an introduction to the spelling bee rules. Over the course of two hours, students showed off their spelling skills until we got to round 12. Seventh grade student,Jaymel Santos, had the winning word, manganese. Maria DeHart is our second place winner and will serve as the alternate. We are so proud of all our students. They are awesome spellers and had a great attitude about the competition. Congratulations to Jaymel for out spelling the entire school!
