The SDUSD Food Services and Nutrition Department is pleased to announce the Annual Kids Create Recipe Contest - Plant-based Edition. All district students grades K-12 are encouraged to put on their chef’s thinking caps and create a delicious recipe that may be featured on their school menu next year. Additional prizes for first, second and third place winners include Amazon Fire tablets and Amazon gift cards. Entries are due by March 8, 2019.
This year, we are asking for students to create a recipe based on plants. The recipe must include whole grains, plant-based protein, and less than 10 ingredients.
The key to this competition is to follow the directions on the entry form, and keep the goal of a school meal in mind – less is more for our kitchens, and healthy and fresh is always best. The recipe will be based on taste, originality, and ease of preparation.
Students can download and print the entry form online, or they can pick up a copy from your school café or front office.
Students can return completed entry forms by email to email@example.com; by mail to San Diego Unified Food & Nutrition Services, 6735 Gifford Way, Room 5 San Diego, CA 92111; or to your school café staff no later than March 8, 2019.
