Parent Involvement

Research shows that students achieve at higher levels when their parents are involved with the school. We encourage parents to participate in classroom activities, parenting classes, and curriculum nights. Parents support student recognition assemblies, chaperon field trips, assist teachers, read with individual students, and help put up hallway decorations.  Parents and families can be a part of the decision making process by serving on the School Site Council (SSC) and /or PTA board.

Family Friday

The first Friday of each month families are invited into classrooms for the first hour of the day. They participate in reading or math lessons. This is a great way for parents to experience 'school' with their children.

Grandparents and adult mentors are welcome!

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

The purpose of the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is to give advice to the Principal and school staff regarding programs and services for English Learners. At Carver, over half of our students are English Learners, so this committee is an important one. All parents are welcome to attend - we have four meetings a year. Our meetings begin at 7:30 and last no longer than one hour.  We welcome and encourage you to attend these meetings and contribute your ideas for the success of our English Learners.  Translation services are available.

If you are interested in volunteering, stop by the office and get an application to complete and specific information about opportunities at Carver. All on-site volunteers need to have a TB documentation clearance.
