Cadman is one of about 20 schools in San Diego to have a partnership with UCSD's Partners At Learning program. Each year, fifteen to twenty of our 4th and 5th grade students are assigned a college student from UCSD as their mentor for the entire year. The purpose of the mentoring program is to pair a college role model with Cadman students that have academic potential but may need a little extra support and motivation. The mentors serve as role models, participate in home visits, join students on field trips and provide enrichment activities. They also assist their mentees with homework and help them get to school on time. Academically, mentors support students one-on-one in the classroom to provide them scaffolds to promote their academic success. We are delighted to be in our sixth year of hosting UCSD mentors!
