Washington Elementary Students Celebrate Pi Day

Posted: Tuesday, March 14th 2017

Happening today at Washington Elementary, students are celebrating Pi day. Not pie as in apple pie, Pi as in the mathematical symbol 3.14. Pi day is celebrated nationwide every year on March 14th.
Students in Ms. David’s 3rd grade class are celebrating today with STEAM curriculum. Steam stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The STEAM programs also focus on getting more girls interested in what has traditionally been male- dominated careers.

San Diego Unified’s Magnet schools offer students a unique opportunity for in-depth studies in a specific area of interest. Magnet schools attract a wide-range of students, creating richly diverse learning environments. One of San Diego Unified School District's theme based Magnet programs is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) & STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics).

San Diego Unified is proud to offer k-12 STEM/STEAM programs in 13 schools within our district . For a full list of those schools please see the link below:
