From making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless, to collecting school supplies for those affected by Hurricane Florence, Bird Rock Elementary students are having an inspirational impact on the world around them.

Embracing the mantra from 1st grade teacher Kristi Nelson, "Be part of your world, and not just in it," Bird Rock students have made quite a mark with their community outreach efforts this year. Hear directly from the students, parents, and Ms. Nelson in this clip from KUSI-TV above.

With more projects still to come, the Bird Rock students' efforts have already included:

  • Collecting school supplies for Hurricane Florence schools
  • Making 100 peanut butter sandwiches for homeless
  • Collecting Arts and Crafts for less fortunate children
  • Singing and making art for a local senior center
  • Stuffing warm socks with nuts and fruit for less fortunate children
  • Making kindness posters for all classrooms with 5th grade Book Buddies
  • Making placemats for Meals on Wheels to deliver
  • Neighborhood clean-ups

Join us in giving these kids, their parents, and the entire Bird Rock team a round of applause!
